Help spread the word about the Big Big Block Party!

We are planning an amazing, BIG, BIG BLOCK PARTY!  We need lots of help, including help getting the word out:

  1. Print Media.  We have 100 beautiful 11”x17” posters that need to be put up all around MLT and the north end (Edmonds, Brier, Lynnwood, Lake Forest Park, north Shoreline), and 3500 double-sided postcards to be given out wherever those posters are posted.  This needs to happen THIS WEEK!  Click HERE to go to the PR Distribution Sign-Up Form.  We’ll ask that you do use that form to report back so that we don’t have twelve volunteers wasting time by approaching the same places.
  2. City of Mountlake Terrace July 3rd Fireworks Show at Lake Ballinger.  We’d love to have folks sign up in teams of two for half-hour shifts to hand out postcards Sunday evening at Lake Ballinger.  There will be a big crowd there, so we could pass out a LOT of postcards in a short period of time if we have lots of volunteers!  If you’re already planning on attending the Fireworks Show, take a shift with a friend and tell others about our Big, Big Block Party!  You can pick up postcards ahead of time at Bethesda OR from Pastor Heidi on site at the Park.  Click here to go to the PR Distribution Sign Up Form.
  3. Social Media.  We need to get lots of buzz going about the Big, Big Block Party.  We’ve got an e-version of the postcard that you can share, photos of Bethesda, photos of the Joy Street Orchestra and a sample of their music.  As soon as we’ve locked in our Food Trucks, we’ll let you know so you can talk THEM up!
  4. News Media.  Think about writing a letter to the editor of your local paper, encouraging folks to attend on July 16th.  Then do it!

Block Party July 16th!

On Saturday, July 16th, from 1-9 p.m. Bethesda Lutheran Church is hosting this fabulous event as a free gift to the wider community, because we all just need to get to know one another and have some FUN together!  The Joy Street Orchestra will be playing from 2-6 p.m., with DJ’ed music and some open mic slots before and after. The outdoor dance floor will be hopping, and there will be mini dance lessons in swing, waltz, etc., scattered throughout the day. Food trucks, a supervised Children’s Crafts and Games area, and the chance to simply BE together will make this an amazing event.

¡Bienvenidos, Vecinos!

ALL are welcome!!

Help us spread the word about the Big Big Block Party!

Humanitarian Crisis in Ukraine and Eastern Europe: How Can We Help?

Many organizations are making initiatives in support of the Ukrainian people impacted by the Russian invasion that began on February 24.  Here are a few from within the Lutheran faith community:

Lutheran Disaster Response is working with local churches in the region as well as Lutheran World Federation and Church World Service to help meet refugees’ immediate needs, such as food, water, blankets, and hygiene kits.  You can donate to this effort on the ELCA website here.

The Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service is offering five daily prayer and meditation prompts delivered to your email inbox on the theme of Solidarity with Ukraine.  You can also sign their petition the the Biden administration to take several measures in support of Ukrainian people, including humanitarian assistance in Ukraine and Eastern Europe and visa-related assistance for Ukrainians currently in the US, to prevent them from being forced to return to Ukraine at this time.

Lutheran World Relief is working with local organizations in Ukraine and neighboring countries to provide food, water, shelter, and medical supplies.  You can make a donation to support their work here.
